Team Diamond Braves The Heat In Evansville
Press Release
Evansville, along with Pittsburgh's South Park, are often held up as the crown jewels of the NBL's National Circuit.   Evansville is often mentioned as a potential site for the NBL Grands. The track is famous for the "G Forces" felt as riders fly down the long back straight. It still is a track that can be won on the short first straight.  Ten Team Diamond Staats riders traveled a grueling 9 hour ride to meet the monster in Burdette Park. It is a rider favorite. On top of everything else, lets add a 95 degree weekend to the mix, shall we?

Since we usually start with the youngest, today, we begin with our 40 Cruiser, Tom Erickson. Tom managed a third on Saturday, then crept away like a thief in the night. Maybe Tom saw something the young guns missed? 13x Kyle Campbell had some great battles as this class always seems to have. They are fun to watch. Kyle finished 6th and 5th. 11x Evan Yuchasz  rode as well as he ever has since turning expert. Unfortunately 2 Saturday crashes cost him points and a transfer, a Sunday crash put him out of the race. 10x Derek Wilkerson also crashed on Saturday, but he did it in his main. Sunday he climbed up to 4th. Watch Derek race sometime, he really is a talent who is often overlooked in the big names of 10x.

10 Novs Cody Campbell and Cameron Masters were consistent in their inconsistency. Being in the same moto both days proved to be tough as they beat up on each other. Cody managed a 3rd and a crash for a Sunday 8th. Cam finished 6th then climbed over Cody to 3rd. 9 Novice Kolin Groom hitched a ride just to let the 9 novice class know he is still around. If Kolin is around, he is usually out front. He won 4 motos, took 2nd and 4th, and put himself in the # 3 spot nationally. All this kid needs is race time. Watch him at Louisville!

Last but not least, the 7 year olds. 7 novice Ryan Wilkerson got up from a Friday crash to take a pair of 3rds. How did he crash? By trying to jump something HUGE, I'm sure. He is fearless, like a mini-kettle....Speaking of Fearless, 7X Brendan Couch was flat out in the first straight Sunday during his motos. He didn't talked and just laid there. He then jumped up and got on his bike, finishing the race. Mom said his dad would be very proud. We all were. He then won his second main of the weekend. 7 girl Miss Megan Yuchasz has won several Regionals. She has won many State qualifiers and won the State Championship race. The only thing she lacked was a National win. She got 2 this weekend and was perfect along the way.  Congrats to all!

The team scored 82 on Saturday tying for 2nd and 80 on Sunday to tie for 3rd. It seems if we have enough riders, we are in the 80's.    Thanks to the Evansville Volunteers who endured a very hot, humid weekend.

We would especially  like to thank our sponsors, Staats, Six Six One, Velocity, Diamond Edge Sports, Extreme Roofing, Marzocchi, Maxxis, Sun Ringle and of course Diamond Cleaners!!  See you again soon
