Update: I received an email from Mr. Oie saying that they were actually not sure if Josh had won enough to turn AA. However, he went on to say that even if Josh hadn't, he would most likely turn himself AA for Grands.
Whether it's a required move or a personal decision, I can't wait to see Josh mix it up with the elite of the sport.
With the win on Saturday in A Pro and his main showing in A Pro on Sunday Josh Oie has reached the highest platform in BMX, AA Pro.
I talked to Gary Oie (Josh's father) early on Sunday asking him if Josh was going to "slip a peddle" (according to Gary, Josh needed $150 more to turn AA. If josh didn't make the main on Sunday, he would have been able to go for a win in A Pro at Grands). Gary told me he'd asked Josh if he was going to sit out the day on Sunday. Josh's reply was "I never have sand-bagged, I'm not going to now".
With that response and the transfer to the main on Sunday, Josh Oie is your newest AA Pro and will be lining up with the idols of the sport in Tulsa.
