BESTWICK and SHECKLER crowned FIRST-ever dew action sports tour champions in SKATEBOARD PARK AND BMX VERT Disciplines

Bartram, Bestwick, Guettler, Lasek, and Sheckler Win Season-Ending Championships

October 16, 2005 – Orlando, Fla. –Jamie Bestwick, 34, of Nottingham, GBR took top honors today in BMX Vert at the PlayStation® Pro at Orlando’s TD Waterhouse Centre.  With his win, Bestwick clinched the Dew Cup in the inaugural Dew Action Sports Tour and receives a $75,000 year-end bonus and 2006 Toyota Tacoma.   

Bestwick led Kevin Robinson of East Providence, R.I. by just five points entering Sunday’s event, but Bestwick clinched the title with a brilliant tour-best first run of 97.75. Fellow Briton Simon Tabron finished second at 93.25. Robinson was third at 92.25.  Bestwick’s fourth consecutive Dew Tour event title gave him 400 points to win the BMX Vert season crown.  Robinson finished second with 358 and Chad Kagy of Gilroy, Calif., was third with 303.  Bestwick was the only four-time winner on the Tour.

“I didn’t compete in the first event, so I knew I needed to win the other four,” Bestwick said. “I rolled the dice (in his first run Sunday) and went for it. I wanted to do something that would blow the socks off everyone and I was able to do it.”  Bestwick’s first run was highlighted by a double downside tailwhip flair.   

Ryan Sheckler, 15, of San Clemente, Calif. entered today’s Skateboard Park competition having already clinched the Dew Cup.  He secured the overall points lead last month at the Toyota Challenge in San Jose, Calif., earning him a $75,000 year-end bonus and a 2006 Toyota Tacoma as well.
 
“I came out here to make a statement,” Sheckler said. “I didn’t take it for granted. I wanted to come out here and let people know how strong a skater I am. I’m excited about next year. I just hope it’s as much fun as this year.”
 
Woodland Hills, Calif. native, Jereme Rogers, 20, took top honors in today’s PlayStation®  Pro Skateboard Park contest, earning a score of 89.42.  Rogers’ winning run was highlighted with a kickflip backside lipslide.  This is Rogers’ first win on the Dew Action Sports Tour.
 
Greg Lutzka, 20, of Milwaukee, Wis. took second place in Skateboard Park with a score of 88.00.  Lutzka, who took first place at the Vans Invitational in Portland, Ore. in August, ends the 2005 Dew Action Sports Tour season with 247 points and third in the standings.  Chad Fernandez, 28, of Los Angeles, Calif. sits in second place in the Dew Action Sports Tour Skateboard Park standings with 290 points for the season.

Also held Sunday was the BMX Vert Best Trick competition, with Kagy capturing top honors with a barspin superman seatgrab over the channel.  Robinson took second place and Tabron, 31, of Liverpool, GBR took third.      
 
The inaugural season of the Dew Action Sports Tour concluded with the PlayStation® Pro at Orlando’s TD Waterhouse Centre.  Kenny Bartram (Freestyle Motocross), Bestwick (BMX Vert), Ryan Guettler (BMX Dirt and Park), Bucky Lasek (Skateboard Vert), and Sheckler (Skateboard Park) were awarded the season-championship Dew Cup.  Each Dew Cup winner received a $75,000 year-end bonus and a 2006 Toyota Tacoma.
 
A 22-year-old Australian, Guettler concluded a historic season in BMX Dirt and BMX Park, winning the first Dew Cups in both disciplines. A second-place finish at the PlayStation® Pro’s BMX Dirt competition enabled Guettler to secure the season points title.  Ryan Nyquist, 26, of Los Gatos, Calif., finished with an average score of 90.88 to earn first place in the PlayStation® Pro’s BMX Dirt event.  Australian Cameron White, 21, finished third in the competition with an average score of 90.25 and also secured third place in the season standings. Another Australian, Corey Bohan, 23, placed second in the BMX Dirt season standings.     
 
Guettler won his second Dew Cup with a third-place finish in BMX Park.  Scotty Cranmer, 18, of Jackson, N.J. finished with a score of 93.50 to win the PlayStation® Pro’s BMX Park competition.  Cranmer placed second in the overall Dew Action Sports Tour 2005 standings.  Nyquist finished second in Saturday night’s competition with a score of 92.25 to claim third place in the season standings.  
 
Skateboard icon Lasek, 32, of Baltimore, Md. finished fourth in the PlayStation® Pro’s Skateboard Vert competition to clinch the Dew Cup in that discipline.  Pierre-Luc Gagnon, 25, of Montreal, CAN won the PlayStation® Pro title, but fell short of winning the Tour’s season crown with 369 points to Lasek’s 371.  Andy Macdonald, 32, Boston, Mass., finished the inaugural season with third place in the season standings.
 
Bartram of Stillwater, Okla., captured the 2005 Dew Action Sports Tour season championship in Freestyle Motocross by winning the season-ending PlayStation® Pro tour stop.  The win gave the 27-year-old Bartram a total of 400 points.  Entering the PlayStation® Pro, Bartram trailed Jeremy Stenberg of Winchester, Calif., by 13 points in the standings. Stenberg finished fifth in the PlayStation®  Pro to place second in the season ending standings with 362 points. Third place went to Mike Mason of Minden, Nev., with 271 points.
 
The PlayStation® Pro also featured Best Trick events in Inline Skating and Skateboard Vert.  Japanese brothers Takeshi and Eito Yasutoko took first and second place, respectively, with Brazil’s Marco De Santi placing third.  Max DuFour of Quebec, CAN won the Skateboard Vert best trick contest with a kickflip tailgrab 360.  Lasek finished second and Gagnon  third.
