The pre-Interbike festivities are in full swing with the Boulder City BMX Pro-only "Double Down" trails race opening the Interbike week. The field was small but competitive with guys like NBL National #1 Mike Day (Staats / Red Bull), UCI World Champ Bubba Harris(Redline), NBL Grands champ Warwick Stevenson (Haro), Jason Carnes (Redline), Robbie Miranda (Fox), John Purse (Mongoose), and locals Nate Berkheimer (Schwinn), NBL National #1 Superclass rider Derek Betcher (Rev Tec), and NBL Grands Superclass winner Mike Lundy (No Fear), all making the trek to Boulder City.
Details are coming, but looks like Miranda had multiple crashes and had to settle for fourth, third went to Bubba Harris, and, in the final, it was the old guys Purse and Carnes. In the two lap format, Purse won the first round and Carnes won the second. Purse's time however did not register in round two and they had to re-run the lap. Carnes again won the third round, but only .01 seconds ahead of Purse, which was not enough to take the win. Interesting note was the fact that Carnes was actually eliminated round one by Betcher, but Betcher pulled out due to illness which let "C-Money" get through.
Results:
1. John Purse (Mongoose) 2. Jason Carnes (Redline) 3. Bubba Harris (Redline) 4. Robbie Miranda (Fox)
